Yamauchi fires 72 in final round

Dalen Yamauchi fired an even-par 72 on Tuesday to finish in 19th place at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock, Calif.

Yamauchi was at 8-over 224 for the tournament, 10 strokes behind a pair of golfers who tied for medalist honors, CSU-Stanislaus’ Trevor Clayton and Chico State’s Lee Gearhart.

The Vulcans (36-0ver 900) placed sixth out of 19 teams. At 8-over, CSU Monterey Bay won the event.

In the final round, UHH’s Corey Kozuma shot a 76 and fell into a tie for 24th at 225. Also in the tournament were Kyeton Littel (T33rd, 75—228), Chris Shmomura (T42, 75—230) and Christian Agosto (T57, 80—233).

Kamehameha hiring coaches

Kamehameha is seeking assistant coaches for varsity and junior varsity football, as well as a head coach for girls volleyball.

The deadline to apply for the football positions is Sunday, and the volleyball position is open until April 27.

Applicable coaching experience at the varsity, junior varsity or intermediate levels is required.

5-mile run Friday at Coconut Isle

The Big Island Road Runners is holding a Emily Wedeman 5-mile memorial at 5 p.m. Friday at Coconut Island in Hilo.

The run is free to the public and all donations will go to the Hawaii chapter of the American Cancer Society.
